Promoção da responsabilidade / Responsibility promotion

Com o objetivo de preparar a cidade para a celebração do Dia da Autonomia, no próximo dia 29 de Abril, a Fundação Essentia Príncipe participou numa ação de limpeza de Stº António juntamente com outras instituições, empresas e população em geral. Esta iniciativa é um exemplo a seguir para a concretização de muitos mais projetos. A Fundação está sempre disponível para participar.

In order to prepare the city for the Autonomy Day celebration, on the 29th April, the Foundation has participated in a cleaning action along with other institutions, companies and population. This initiative is an example to follow for the materialization of many more projects. The Foundation is always available to attend.

Apoiar os jovens criativos | Supporting creative young people

Um dos nossos propósitos é apoiar os jovens criativos da ilha, como é o caso de Geny, uma jovem empreendedora que está a criar uma coleção de bolsas em tecido africano.

One of our purposes is to support  local creative young people, such as Geny, a young entrepreneur who is creating her first collection of handbags made with African tissue.

Doces segredos do Príncipe / Sweet secrets from Príncipe

A Fundação Essentia Príncipe, pela área do Turismo, iniciou a identificação das pessoas que ainda possuem os segredos gastronómicos do Príncipe. Um desses são as Queijadas de Coco da D. Fina.  Com o coco ralado pelas suas próprias mãos, a sua fama já ultrapassou as fronteiras da ilha.

Essentia Príncipe Foundation, by the Tourism theme, has initiated the identification of people who still possess some of the regional gastronomic secrets. One of those are the coconut queijadas (cakes) from D. Fina. With shredded coconut by her own hands, their fame has surpassed the boundaries of the island.

Empoderamento Económico da Mulher do Príncipe / Príncipe Women Economic Empowerment

Na sequência do projeto Empoderamento Económico da Mulher, a Fundação Essentia Príncipe deslocou-se à Roça de Porto Real para a realizaçao da reunião que marca o início deste projeto. Com a presença de 43 mulheres verifica-se a necessidade de um trabalho mais próximo com esta comunidade fustigada por alguns problemas sociais mas, paralelamente, nota-se que há esperança no futuro.

 

 

 

Príncipe Essentia Foundation went to Porto Real to meet the local women in order to start the project Women Economic Empowerment in this community. With 43 women in the meeting  it was noted the need for a closer work with this community buffeted by some social problems but, in addition, we were glad to see that there’s still hope about the future.

 

 

Empoderamento Económico da Mulher do Príncipe / Príncipe Women Economic Empowerment

No âmbito do projeto Empoderamento Económico da Mulher, da responsabilidade da área social, a Fundação Essentia Príncipe reuniu no passado dia 11 de Abril com o primeiro grupo de mulheres pertencentes às comunidades da Nova Estrela e Santo Cristo (Zona Sul). A escolha deveu-se ao gosto pelo trabalho e pela dinâmica destas, qualidades indispensáveis para o sucesso do projeto. Com resultados bastantes positivos e encorajadores, as 21 participantes expuseram as suas ideias e preocupações, ao mesmo tempo que demonstraram total recetividade a este projeto.

Part of the Príncipe Women Economic Empowerment project, under the responsibility of the NGO Networking theme, the Príncipe Essentia Foundation met on the 11th April with the first group of women belonging to Nova Estrela and Santo Cristo communities (South Zone). This choice was due to their propensity for work and the dynamics that are visible in those territories, basic qualities for the sucess. With encouraging results, the 21 participants shared their ideas and concerns, while showed total receptivity to this intervention.

Cooperação é palavra de ordem / Our mission is cooperating

O trabalho da Fundação Essentia Príncipe assenta sobretudo na cooperação e valoriação do trabalho desenvolvido pelo agentes locais. Têm-se realizado várias reuniões com os responsáveis dos diferentes níveis de ensino na ilha com o intuito de partilhar a missão da Fundação e descobrir oportunidades de colaboração.

The work of the Essentia Príncipe Foundation is mostly based on cooperation and enhancement  of the work done by local stakeholders.There have been several meetings with the different regional education responsibles in order to share the Foundation's mission and to identify new collaboration opportunities.

 

Feira Gastronómica e de Produtos Agrícolas do Príncipe / Príncipe Gastronomic and Agricultural Products Fair

A Fundação Essentia Príncipe participa na organização da Feira Gastronómica e de Produtos Agrícolas a realizar no próximo dia 27 de Abril. Este evento tem por objetivo a promoção dos produtos da “terra” e mostrar às comunidades a importância da preservação do que é autêntico e característico do Príncipe.

Essentia Príncipe Foundation participates in the Gastronomic and Agricultural Products Fair organization, which will take place on April 27th. This event aims to promote local products and aware local communities about the importance of preserving authentic and typical products.

Príncipe, Reserva da Biosfera / Príncipe, Biosphere Reserve

Entre os dias 3 e 10 de Maio de 2013 a Ilha do Príncipe realiza a XI Reunião Internacional da REDBIOS, Rede de Reservas da Biosfera  da África Ocidental (do Atlântico Este) e Macaronésia, dedicado ao tema “O papel das Reservas da Biosfera no Desenvolvimento Local”. Ainda durante o evento realizar-se-á a cerimónia oficial de entrega do certificado de Reserva da Biosfera da UNESCO à Ilha do Príncipe.

Between the 3rd and the 10th of May, 2013, Principe carries out the XI REDBIOS International meeting, West Africa and Macaronesia Biosphere Reserves Network (the East Atlantic), dedicated to the theme "The role of Biosphere Reserves in Local Development ". Also during the event  will be held the official ceremony of the certificate of UNESCO Biosphere Reserve on the island of Principe.

Artes e ofícios do Príncipe / Príncipe Arts and Crafts

Apoiar as artes e ofícios que sobreviveram ao tempo, e resgatar algumas do esquecimento é uma das missões da Fundação Essentia Príncipe. O trabalho de pesquisa já começou e a boa notícia é que aos poucos vão aparecendo os artistas e artesãos que fazem da matéria local autênticas obras de arte popular.

Supporting the regional arts and crafts that have survived, and to rescue some others from being forgotten is one of the Essentia Príncipe Foundation main missions. The research work has already started and the good news are that the artists and craftsmen, whom make the local craft work authentic, are slowly appearing.

 

 

 

Turismo como oportunidade / Tourism as an opportunity

Realizou-se ontem a última das cinco conferências da iniciativa “Novo Ciclo de Desenvolvimento para São Tomé e Príncipe” sob tema “O Papel do Turismo no Novo Ciclo Económico em São Tomé e Príncipe”. É uma iniciativa promovida pelo Governo da Região Autónoma do Príncipe com o objetivo de refletir sobre o potencial contributo da atividade turística para o desenvolvimento nacional e regional. A Fundação Essentia Príncipe esteve presente e registou o entusiasmo demonstrado em relação ao futuro.

 

 

Yesterday  the last conference was held,  of a total of five, for the  "New Development Cycle for São Tome e Príncipe" programme, under the theme "The Role of Tourism in the New Economic Cycle in Sao Tome e Principe".   These conferences were promoted by the Regional Government of Príncipe   to reflect on the potential contribution of tourism to the national and regional development. The Essentia Príncipe Foundation was present and welcomed the enthusiasm about the future.
